Microneedling in Cochrane: The Skin-Rejuvenating Treatment That Gets Your Skin Working Again
If your skincare routine is getting longer while your skin is becoming increasingly unimpressed, it might be time to look at what’s happening below the surface.

At Revivery & Co. in Cochrane, microneedling is one of my favourite treatments for improving the overall quality and longevity of your skin. It’s not about completely changing your face or chasing perfectly poreless skin. It’s about encouraging your skin to do something it already knows how to do: repair, rebuild and produce collagen.
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This triggers the skin’s natural wound-healing response, stimulating collagen production and supporting the remodeling of the skin. Research supports its use for concerns including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, uneven texture and signs of photoaging.
And honestly? I love a treatment that works with your skin rather than trying to bully it into submission.
What Are the Benefits of Microneedling?
1. It stimulates collagen production
Collagen is one of the main structural proteins that gives skin its firmness, strength and support.
As we age, collagen production naturally declines. The collagen we do have also becomes less organized, which contributes to changes in firmness, texture and the appearance of fine lines.
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries that activate the skin's repair process. Fibroblasts—the cells responsible for producing collagen—get to work rebuilding the area.
The result isn't an overnight facelift. Instead, your skin gradually becomes stronger and more resilient as new collagen is produced and remodeled.
This gradual process is one of the reasons microneedling is one of my favourite treatments for skin longevity.
2. It can improve fine lines and wrinkles
Fine lines are a natural part of having a face. I'm not here to convince you otherwise.
But if you'd like to improve the appearance of fine lines and soften some of the visible signs of skin aging, microneedling can help stimulate the collagen and remodeling processes that support smoother-looking skin.
A 2025 systematic review of microneedling for facial rejuvenation found that studies most commonly evaluated improvements in wrinkles, skin texture, photoaging and skin laxity, with overall high patient satisfaction and generally mild, temporary side effects.
The important part? Results develop over time. Your skin needs time to build and remodel collagen.
3. It improves skin texture
If your skin feels rough, uneven or generally lacking that smooth, healthy-looking finish, microneedling can help.
By stimulating collagen remodeling, microneedling can improve the appearance of uneven texture and contribute to smoother-looking skin.
It's also a great option when your concern isn't one specific "problem" but more of a general:
"Why does my skin look tired even when I am doing all the things?"
Very relatable.
4. It can help reduce the appearance of acne scars
Microneedling has been widely studied for atrophic acne scars.
The controlled injury stimulates collagen production and remodeling within the skin, which can gradually help soften the appearance of certain types of acne scarring.
That doesn't mean every scar disappears—and different types of scars require different approaches—but microneedling can be an effective option for appropriate candidates.
5. It can help with uneven tone and signs of sun damage
Microneedling may also improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and photoaged skin.
However, pigmentation is complicated. Not every brown spot should be treated the same way, and more aggressive isn't automatically better.
That's why treatment planning matters.
At Revivery & Co., we look at your skin, your concerns, your current skincare routine and your history of sun exposure before deciding whether microneedling is the right treatment for you.
6. It works on the bigger picture of skin health
This is probably the biggest reason I love microneedling.
We're not just trying to make your skin look good for the next 48 hours.
We're working on skin quality.
Microneedling can be part of a longer-term skin strategy focused on maintaining collagen, improving texture and supporting the structural quality of your skin as you age.
Think less "quick fix" and more:
Let's keep the skin you have functioning really well for as long as possible.
When Will You See Results From Microneedling?
This is where patience becomes your skincare superpower.
You may notice that your skin looks brighter or feels smoother relatively soon after treatment, but the deeper benefits don't happen overnight.
Collagen production and remodeling take time.
Visible improvements can continue developing for weeks to months following treatment, and a series of treatments is often recommended when addressing concerns such as scarring, fine lines or overall skin rejuvenation.
At Revivery & Co., I generally recommend starting with a series of three treatments spaced approximately 4–6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments based on your individual skin and goals.
Your skin is not Amazon Prime. It does not arrive tomorrow.
Is Microneedling Safe for All Skin Tones?
Microneedling can be appropriate for a wide range of skin tones and is considered a minimally invasive treatment.
However, that doesn't mean everyone should automatically be microneedled.
Your skin needs to be assessed first, particularly if you're dealing with active inflammation, certain pigmentation concerns, compromised skin barrier function, active acne or other conditions that may make treatment inappropriate.
A proper consultation is an important part of the process.
What Is Microneedling Recovery Like?
Microneedling does involve controlled injury to the skin, so some redness, warmth, tightness or sensitivity afterward is completely normal.
Downtime varies depending on the treatment and individual skin response, but most people can expect their skin to look and feel different for several days while it settles.
Post-treatment skincare matters.
This is not the time to throw every active ingredient you own at your face because you are excited.
Your skin needs gentle cleansing, hydration, barrier support and diligent sun protection while it recovers.
Why I Love Microneedling for Skin Longevity
There are plenty of treatments that can make your skin look amazing temporarily.
Microneedling is different because we're trying to encourage your own skin to rebuild and improve its structure.
As we move through our 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond, maintaining skin quality becomes less about chasing perfection and more about supporting the skin's natural functions.
That's why microneedling is one of my favourite treatments for skin longevity.
It's not about looking younger.
It's about keeping your skin healthy, strong, resilient and looking like your skin—just with a little more support.
